Originally called Raritan Township, Hazlet has been incorporated since 1848. In late 1967, the town was renamed Hazlet Township after a wealthy resident. Currently, it boasts an impressive Swim and Tennis Club, and hosts local petting-farm animals, in one of her parks, for two months every year.
